Help for One Year: An Update
In an attempt to keep the parish community updated on the special D'Iberville Mission, here are some items of recent note.
Our Partnership in Action: First Visit
On October 27th, Sr. Dominic Dybel, Pat Schauer and Pat Renz drove the 15 hour, 900 mile pilgramage to Sacred Heart parish. They took greetings and goodwill, as well as a truck full of school and cleaning supplies.
Building Hope: Second Visit
On October 30th, Father Burnett commissioned and blessed a team led by Serge Murer who will spend several days in D'Iberville doing electrical and construction work. Other team members include Bob Kerr, Gene Cassani and Al Abadie.
Notes from D'Iberville, Mississippi November 13, 2005
Even with very few road sign in the area, our first crew (Sr. Dominic, Pat Renz and Peg Schauer) reached Sacred Heart parish with our donations of our school supplies and other miscellaneous items.
When they finally arrived, they saw God's wisdom at work once again. Seven cases of copy paper were delivered to the school which had opened its last pack of paper just that day. When Peg gave some table flatware to Sr. Kim, she smiled because a parishioner said just days before that he "didn't even have a spoon."
A lot of cleanup has been done, but parts of the area still look like Plainfield after the 1990 tornado. Some trailers have been brought in by FEMA for temporary shelter, but after 18 months, they must be either purchased or returned. Please continue to keep the parish in your thoughts and prayers.
