News You Can Use (NYCU)

This weekend we celebrate First Communion! Please pray for our young people! They have such joy and enthusiasm in anticipation for tomorrow. We pray that love for Jesus never ends and they receive Communion in that way every time they are called to the Table of the Lord! The first communicants will be processing down Douglas onto Raynor. If you live in the neighborhood or are around, please come and cheer them on. It is such a great display of love! The procession begins at approximately at 11:45.

ITEM #1: Rocket Walk

Our Rocket Walk campaign begins! Last year we raised $23,332.75 which allowed us to purchase the new visitor management system (Raptor), new classroom rugs and easels and science kits for our primary classrooms.

We have big dreams and a bold vision for the profits of this year’s Rocket Walk! If we go above our baseline goal, we want to purchase IPads for the classrooms! Help us achieve the same level of success as we did last year so we can increase engagement and innovation!

The first step in helping with this important fundraiser is to create an account for your child at www.thegetmovincrew.com . Click on the star in the lower right hand corner. It takes less than two minutes and is very user friendly. If you do this for your child/ren by Sunday, May 5th at 7 PM, they will be allowed to dress down on Monday, May 8th.

Once you have created your online profile, send an email to 10 family members, neighbors, co-workers and friends. Post your efforts on Facebook. The more we share, the better our chances at achieving success!

ITEM #2: Spring Musical

After hours of hard work, our junior high students are ready to dazzle you with their artistic talent of singing and acting. Annie, Jr. will be performed for three nights—Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 7th-9th beginning at 7 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM.

If you don’t already have your tickets, there are limited tickets available to purchase on online: https://www.showtix4u.com/events/1482

You can sometimes find tickets on the classroom Facebook pages because people’s plans have unexpectedly changed. If you call the office, we can direct you to someone we know selling tickets. This show is perfect for the young ones of our community!

ITEM #3: May Crowning

On Friday at 2:00 PM we will be having our annual May Crowning. We will be doing this slightly differently than we have in past years. Instead of crowning Mary in the context of a mass, we will have a living rosary. All students are invited to bring flowers to present to our Blessed Mother. The first communicants and our 8th grade girls will be given flowers from the school to present to Mary.

Ceselie Mudron was selected by her class to crown Mary. The crowning of Mary is a great honor as we look to find someone who models the qualities of Mary—obedient, patient, caring, and faith filled. Marley Hennessy, Paige Michel and Abby Williams will be a part of the May Crowning court. All are welcome to join us in this Marian devotion!

ITEM #4: Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10th. Let’s fill their hearts and souls with gratitude from our school community. They do so much without ever asking for anything in return. The truly are the soul of St. Ray’s. Please consider some small way to share how grateful you are to them. (Thank you in advance to HSA who has something extraordinary planned for each day of the week to celebrate our staff!)

ITEM #5: OktoberFest Kick-Off Event

As this school year nears the end, we are preparing next year’s Oktoberfest. The date will be Saturday, October 19, 2019. As most of you know, Oktoberfest is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the money raised helps with vital improvements in our school along with helping to offset tuition increases. Volunteers are the real backbone of this event and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our past volunteers. Without our volunteers, this event could not be the success it has been year in and year out.

We are hosting a kick-off event on Tuesday, May 14th in the Commons beginning at 6:30. Come see how you can help make OktoberFest 2019 the best it can be! We are not asking for a big commitment. If you can only give an hour to help with O’Fest, we have something for you to do! If you can only devote time to helping in the month of June/July, we have something for you! Many hands make light work. OktoberFest benefits each and every family at St. Raymond. Please prayerfully considering doing something—big or small—to help in these efforts.

We will see YOU on Tuesday, May 14th at 6:30! Food and beverages will be provided.

If you have any questions, you can reach out to this year’s chairs Theresa and Chris Watkins at 815-274-6215.

ITEM #6: Student Council Elections

ITEM #7: Track and Field Update

ITEM #8: Yearbook Orders

Yearbook orders were due today. If you would still like to order a yearbook, you can hand in your order form and money no later than Monday. Yearbooks are distributed in August/September so that we can include all the end of the year activities in the yearbook. Don’t lose out in capturing all the memories of this year of JOY!
