News You Can Use (NYCU)

Halloween was full of great fun! We couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you to everyone who contributed—whether it was a donation or your time. We couldn’t have made memories without our beloved parents. Check out our Halloween parade on Facebook!

Yesterday we celebrated the Feast of All Saints and today we celebrate All Souls Day. Let us remember all of our family members who have gone before us as they sit at the banquet table of the Lord.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

ITEM #1: OktoberFest Kid Pics

At OktoberFest families had the option of purchasing a silhouette portrait of your child for $14 (see attached flyer). The $14 includes a 4” framed Christmas ornament, an additional 4” x 6” print and a digital copy. Students who will be having their picture taken for the silhouette portrait may dress down for this. When deciding what to wear, please avoid collared shirts and turtle necks.

These pictures will be taken next Friday, November 9th. If you are child is absent or you purchased it for a child who does not attend St. Raymond School, we will have an additional portrait sitting on Sunday, November 11th from 9-12.

If you are interested in purchasing the silhouette package, we have 50 packages available. Please send a check for $14 per child in an envelope to the school office marked Kid Pics. First come, first served.

ITEM #2: Veteran’s Day Assembly

We invite you to join us next Friday, November 9th at 10 AM as we celebrate and recognize all those people who have served our country in honor of Veteran’s Day. Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade will sing songs and recite poems and essays. We will end our assembly with an official flag raising and the playing of taps.

ITEM #3: Light Up the Holiday Parade—Candy Donations Needed

St. Raymond will once again be walking the Light Up the Holiday Parade in Joliet on Friday, November 23rd. We would like to pass out candy to the parade goers and we are asking every family to consider making a donation of a bag of candy. Many stores have discounted their Halloween candy 50% or more! Please grab a bag or two to help us in our efforts to give back to our community. Thank you in advance for your help!

ITEM #4: Parent/Teacher Conferences

The first trimester grading period ends next Friday, November 9th. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, November 19thbetween 12-5:30 and 6:30-8. There is NO SCHOOL that day. Scheduling for parent/teacher conferences will happen through School Speak. Please be ready by having your School Speak log in information. If you do not know your log in information, please contact Kelly Alt at or by calling her at 815-722-6626.

You will receive an email on Monday with the details regarding how to schedule your conferences. The scheduling for conferences will open up WEDNESDAY at 10 AM. Please note: Fall Conferences are mandatory.

ITEM #5: Picture Retakes

Monday, November 12th is picture retake day. If you were unhappy with your child’s original picture or they were absent the first time around, your child will have the opportunity to have their picture retaken. The original pictures must be sent back. Anyone taking a retake must change back into their uniform. Please note these pictures go in our annual yearbook.

ITEM #6: Manna

As we turn the calendar to November and begin to think about Thanksgiving and Christmas, please consider purchasing your gift cards through our Manna Program. Families pay the full value of the gift card, but a percentage of the value is given back to us. We split that percentage with families as tuition credit. Last year over $2300 in tuition credit was given through Manna. One family earned over $400 in tuition credit. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mary Wheaton at
