News You Can Use (NYCU)

There is so much to give thanks for…

àThank you for your many thoughtful donations to our Thanksgiving food drive!

àThank you to all the families who donated bags of candy. We had some very happy parade goers who were excited to receive our treats.

àThank you to all who paraded with us, despite the rain! A special thanks to the Spirit Squad and to the member of Student Council.

àThank you to the Tracy Pollack and Michelle Wilhemi for organizing Santa’s Secret Workshop! Thank you to all the moms who volunteered throughout the week to help check students out.  The children had so much fun picking out gifts for their loved ones (they may have even picked out some things for themselves--oops)!

àThank you to the moms and dads who volunteered their time to help at Fun Lunch today!

ITEM #1: Advent

This Sunday begins a new church year with the first Sunday of Advent. As we prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus, we pray that you will take an hour out of your Sunday to spend time with our Lord at mass.

As a school community, we have several activities planned to make sure we keep the focus on the birth of Jesus. Each Monday morning, we will gather in the gym for a short prayer service and to the light the advent wreath. We invite all family members to join us if your schedule allows.

We are also collecting new hats, mittens, gloves and scarves to be distributed to the various shelters around Joliet.

Students in grades 3-8 will have their confessions heard on Monday, December 10th.

ITEM #2: Christmas Program

We have two Christmas programs—one for our pre-school program on Thursday, December 13th at 6 PM and the other for K-8 on Thursday, December 21st at 7PM. All details for the pre-school program have been communicated by the teachers to the pre-school parents.

Attendance at the Christmas program is mandatory for students in K-8th grade. Attire is Christmas formal. It truly is something you don’t want to miss. Ms. Keenon and the students have worked SO hard to put together a beautiful and magnificent concert. It will fill your heart with the peace and joy the Advent season. We can’t wait to share our musical talents with all of our family and friends!

ITEM #3: Report Cards

If you did not attend your child’s parent/teacher conference, report cards were sent home in yesterday’s family folders. Please make sure to return the report card envelope signed no later than Monday, December 3rd.

ITEM #4: Manna

As you think about your Christmas purchases, we encourage you to consider buying gift cards through our Manna Program. Save some money on your tuition and raise some funds for our school! An order form is attached. Order forms are due Monday. Gift cards arrive on Thursday. The last day to order for Christmas is December 17th.

ITEM #5: HSA Meeting

There will be an HSA meeting on Wednesday, December 5th at 6:30 PM in the teacher’s lounge. All are welcome to attend.

ITEM #6: Athletics Meeting

There will be an Athletics Board meeting on Thursday, December 6th at 6:30 PM in the teacher’s lounge. All are welcome to attend.
