News You Can Use (NYCU)

Please consider joining us Monday morning as we begin the second week of Advent lighting our Advent wreath and beginning our day in prayer. The children in grades 3-8 will also have their confessions heard later that morning.

A friendly reminder: we are also collecting new hats, mittens, gloves and scarves to be distributed to the various shelters around Joliet. We have boxes throughout school where your donations can be dropped off.

ITEM #1: Next Friday’s Mass Time

Mass for Friday, December 14th will be at 8 AM. The red calendar states 10 AM.

ITEM #2: Big Friends Little Friends Annual Christmas Gathering

Our 8th grade ‘Big Friends’ and 1st grade ‘Little Friends’ will have their annual Christmas lunch and gift exchange next Friday. They will be served pizza, pasta and salad at no charge to families. Thank you in advance to all the moms and dads who help put this together!

ITEM #3: $1 Dress Down Day

Next Friday is a $1 dress down day!

ITEM #4: K-8 Christmas Program

Our Christmas program is Thursday, December 20th at 7 PM in the Cathedral. Every student in K-8 is expected to attend. Attire is Christmas formal.

Doors will open at 6:30. Students will go to their classrooms first. Parent and relatives will go directly to the Cathedral. Some classes will be staying in their homerooms during the concert, while other classes will have seats reserved in the church. Dismissal at the end of the concert will happen from the Cathedral. We encourage parents to keep your child/ren’s jackets with you.

The Christmas Program will be a beautiful spiritual experience that will prepare us for Christ’s birth. This is the heart of a St. Ray’s experience. We can’t wait to share it with all of you!

ITEM #5: K-8 Christmas Program Dress Rehearsal

We will have a dress rehearsal for our K-8 Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 20th beginning at 1:30 PM. If a parent or grandparent cannot attend the evening production, we invite them to join us Wednesday afternoon.

ITEM #6: Christmas Program Milk and Cookies

Last year we had great success with a reception following our Christmas program. It was an awesome opportunity to enjoy each other’s company. We will do it once again this year. We are asking for the assistance of families to help with donations. Please go by the grade level of your OLDEST child:

Kindergarten: Red Plastic Rectangle Table Cloth

1st grade: Plastic Cups

2nd: Small bottles of water

3rd: Gallon of Milk

4th-8th grade: Cookies

We will have a table of allergy friendly cookies.

Feel free to begin dropping off items in the office beginning Monday, December 17th. The milk and cookies can be brought in on the morning of December 20th and placed in the commons.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

ITEM #7: Manna

As you think about your Christmas purchases, we encourage you to consider buying gift cards through our Manna Program. Save some money on your tuition and raise some funds for our school! Order forms are due Monday. Gift cards arrive on Thursday. The last day to order for Christmas is December 17th.

ITEM #8: Tuition Payment Reminder

If you elected to pay your tuition in 2 installments, your 2nd half is due by December 20th. FACTS Management will add a $30.00 late fee to your account for any amount not paid by the 20th. Payments can be brought into school or paid online at factmgt.com. If you have any questions, please reach out to Janet Seddon on Mondays or Wednesdays between 9:15-3:15.

ITEM #9: Asbestos work being completed over Christmas break

Beginning December 26th, we will be conducting asbestos removal in the school building. Specifically, pipe insulation in a small storage area will be removed. Abatement will be conducted using IL Dept. of Public Health licensed contractors and air monitoring personnel. The area will be sealed, negative air pressure provided in the area, and the air monitored before, during and after the project. Air clearance tests will be conducted after the project and the results will be placed in our asbestos project manual. Admittance to the area will be permitted only when the air clearance results are known to be specified by the IL Dept. of Public Health. As a public document, the manual as well as the asbestos management plan may be reviewed in the school office. If you have any questions, please call Richard M. Kaffka, the Asbestos Designated Person at 815-221-6100 or 708-334-0585.
