ITEM #1: Optional Parent Teacher Conferences

Report cards will be sent home in next week’s family folder. Please review your child’s report card to celebrate their successes this past trimester and to set a goal for this upcoming trimester. The report card envelope will need to be signed and returned to school by Monday of the following week.

On Wednesday March 6th we are offering optional spring parent/teacher conferences. Teachers will be available from 3-5 PM and again from 5:45-7PM.

For K-5ht grade conferences, they must be scheduled. You can sign up for a time through your School Speak account. If you are having any trouble scheduling a conference, please reach out to Kelly Alt in the office.

For 7th and 8th grade conferences, from 3-5 PM and again from 5:45-6:15, the 7th and 8th grade teachers will participate in group conferences for specific students. Those parents will receive a note that a group conference is requested and the time slot that your family has been given.

For all other 7th and 8th grade parents, if you would like to speak to one or more of the teachers, you may come between 6:15 and 7:00 and stand outside their classroom door. It will be first come, first served.

ITEM #2: SPAGHETTI DINNER 2019!!
The Cathedral of St. Raymond’s favorite meal of the year is Thursday, March 1. This will mark our 16th annual Spaghetti Dinner. The dining room is open from 11:00am until 8pm with drive up service available from 4pm until 6pm. The meal includes spaghetti with homemade meat sauce, bread, dinner salad and coffee or tea. A fun, multi-generational event, all proceeds from the spaghetti dinner will benefit the Cathedral of St. Raymond School and is a meal you surely don’t want to miss! Tickets are $9 for Adults, $7 for Seniors, $6 for Kids ages 4-10 and Kids 3 and under are FREE! Mangia! Mangia! Pasta!

We also have a number of raffle baskets and tickets will be available for purchase at the event.

Once again, we come to you, our dedicated school parents, to request the gift of your time. Please consider helping our school by signing up to volunteer. Please know that the gift of your time is greatly appreciated!! It is the volunteers that make this event a success!!

ITEM #3: Kindness Challenge

For any student who is participating in the Random Acts of Kindness Challenge, the completed BINGO board is due no later than Thursday, February 28th. Thank you to all members of our community for spreading the love of Christ through kindness! What a difference you are making in the world!

ITEM #4: State Accreditation Visit

On Wednesday, a team of principals and a member of the IL State Board of Education will be visiting St. Raymond for a routine state accreditation visit. The team validates a set of criteria that all schools are required to follow. They also provide recommendations that will help elevate a school. Visits happen every 7 years. If you see an unfamiliar face, please give them a warm St. Raymond welcome!

ITEM #5: Tax Credit Scholarship Event

On Monday, March 4, 2019 JCA will be hosting a Tax Credit Scholarship/Invest in Kids Act Advocacy night with Senator Bertino-Tarrant. The event is to show our politicians the importance of school CHOICE. We need as many people as possible to attend the event! A strong showing sends a very clear message that the IL TAX Credit Scholarship is important and necessary. The night is designed to give several scholarship recipients, waitlisted students/parents, and local principals a voice regarding their support of the Invest in Kids Act. ITEM #6: 7th and 8th Grade Co-Ed Volleyball

The first practices for 7th and 8th grade coed volleyball are scheduled for the following dates:

7th grade- Tuesday, Feb, 26th from 4:30-6

8th grade- Wednesday, Feb 27th from 3-4:30

Any 7th or 8th grade students who are interested in participating in co-ed volleyball should attend. Please note that all students must have a current physical. There is a $50 participation fee for all players. Games will begin the week of March 4th. Please contact Mike Kelley at mkelley@csrn.org with any questions.

ITEM #7: Raffle Tickets

Raffle tickets and money were due today, February 22nd! This is our only mandatory fundraiser here at St. Ray’s. School families that did not return their tickets and money by the time of the drawing will have $350 added to their FACTS account.

ITEM #8: EDS Help

We are looking to hire an additional people to work in our afternoon extended day program (EDS). If you or someone you know (junior in high school or older) is interested, please reach out to Ms. Hill,mhill@csrn.org. Pay is commensurate with education and experience.

ITEM #9: CEF and Endowment Scholarships

If you would like your family to be considered for a CEF or an Endowment Scholarship an application through FACTS must be submitted no later than this Thursday, March 1st.

The application can be found at: https://online.factsmgt.com/aid. St. Ray’s school code is 2277. There is a $35 application fee and is paid for by the parent.
