News You Can Use (NYCU)

Enjoy your spring break! May these upcoming days renew our minds, hearts and souls! We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, April 1st.

ITEM #1: Re-registration for the 2019-2020 school year

The re-registration packet for the 2019-2020 school year was sent home this week in the family folder. Registration is critically important to planning and budget decisions for next year. We can’t make teacher placement decisions until we have a solid understanding of our enrollment numbers.

There will be an early bird re-registration rate of $100 if the re-registration form and fee are handed in to the office by Friday, April 5th. After this date the re-registration fee increases to $150. Take advantage of the savings!

If you plan on not returning next year, please indicate that on the re-registration form and return it to school. If you are not certain of your intent, please reach out to the office or to Ms. Hill.

ITEM #2: School’s Official Photography Company

This year concludes our three year contract with Inter-State Studio. We are looking from input from our school families on whether we to renew the contract. Can you please help us by filling out this one question survey: We should continue to use Inter-State Studio for our school pictures and yearbook.

ITEM #3: Yearbook Photos

Calling all photographers...Tracy Pollack and Brandy Baltz are looking for you! The 2018-2019 yearbook is underway. If you've taken pictures of any of the great events we've had so far this year, please send them in. JPEG's can be emailed to

We still have many important events coming up...keep on aiming, clicking, and sending!

ITEM #4: Athletic Board Members

The Athletic Board is looking for new members. We are currently in need of 4-5 members. If your children are just getting started in sports here at St. Ray's, this might be a great fit for you.

We meet once a month in the evening. The position has a three year term.

Some of the events we sponsor are:

*Gym Captain roughly once a month to help keep our sporting events safe and under control.

*Holiday Basketball Tourney - December

*Pancake Breakfast at the end of Catholic Schools Week.

*8th grade Athletic Banquet- mid May

If you are looking to get involved, this is a good way to ensure that Athletics continues to thrive at St. Ray’s. Along with a great education, sports are a great way to bring balance and life lessons to your child.

Please consider coming aboard. Contact Mandy Kubinski with any questions.

ITEM #5: Confirmation

Confirmation for our 8th grade students will be Tuesday, April 2nd at 7 PM. Please pray for our young people, that they will have open hearts and minds to grow in the love and knowledge of God and stay committed to the Catholic Church.

Attention 8th grade families: the day after Confirmation is a day off for 8th grade; therefore, Wednesday, April 3rd there will be no school (for 8th grade only!). We hope our 8th graders use the day to spend time with their sponsor.

ITEM #6: HSA Magazine Sales Drive

New this year, HSA will be hosting a magazine sales drive. There will be a pep rally for the students on Wednesday afternoon, April 3rd at 12:55 to share with them the process. There is a prize structure for the number of magazines sold. This is a super easy and lucrative fundraiser. All of the information will go home that Wednesday. Please look for it in your child’s folder. Many of us support literacy in the home with magazines. Instead of purchasing or renewing your subscription through the publishing company, purchase or renew through us. 40% is given back to St. Ray’s. The money raised will help sponsor the Back to School Barbecue!!

ITEM #7: Save the Date--Living Stations of the Cross

On Thursday, April 18th at 2 PM in the Cathedral Mrs. Jacoby and Mrs. Bialko’s 4th grade class will be presenting a prayerful interpretation of our Lord’s journey to the cross. It is amazingly beautiful and has brought many people to tears in the past. We hope you will join us!

ITEM #8: Save the Date—Grandparents Day!

Grandparents Day is Wednesday, April 10th. This is a unique opportunity to share with our grandparents the place we all love and care for.

The day will begin with 9 AM mass and is followed by a concert choreographed by Ms. Keenon and classroom visits. More details will follow as we get closer.

ITEM #9: Grandparent Tribute/Pictures Needed

As we did last year, we would like to honor any grandparents, great grandparents, or grand friends that have passed away since our last Grandparents Day in April of 2018. If this is the case with your family, please bring in a photo (preferably in a frame) by Friday, April 5th, so we can create a special place in the Cathedral to honor them during the show. The idea is that they would be in attendance, but their passing leaves a noticeable absence.

Please mark your child's name on the back with a note or post it so it can be returned to you after the show. Have your children bring them directly to Ms. Keenon in the music room anytime. If you have questions, please email me at
