Staff Changes

Dear St. Raymond School Families,

As we end our school year and look to the next school year, we know change is inevitable. The last days of school are always bittersweet as we say good-bye to those not returning next year.

Mrs. Poropat, our PK teacher, will be moving to Arizona over the summer.

Mrs. Ratajczak, our 2nd grade teacher, is looking to move away from full-time teaching responsibilities and therefore will not return on a consistent basis next year. She does not want to leave St. Raymond fully so she will sub often.

Ms. Keenon has decided to pursue public school employment.

Mrs. Marino committed herself to St. Jude (her other place of employment) and therefore cannot teach gym full-time for us next year.

Mrs. Byrd is seeking other employment opportunities.

St. Raymond is a place of community and belonging so I know what a difficult decision it was for all of these teachers. We are deeply saddened by the loss of their presence next year, but deeply grateful for the all contributions they have made to St. Raymond.

Please join me in holding each of them in prayer.

I welcome the following teachers to the St. Raymond community:

Mrs. Michelle Elias has been hired to teach our pre-kindergarten students next year. Mrs. Elias currently teaches kindergarten at St. Paul the Apostle. Prior to kindergarten, Michelle taught pre-school at St. Paul and in District #152. Michelle brings warmth, dedication, and expertise in early childhood.

Mrs. Renee Streicher has been hired to teach our second kindergarten class for next year. Mrs. Streicher comes with a plethora of experience. For the past fourteen years she has taught at St. Mary Immaculate in Plainfield. Recently she earned a Reading Specialist endorsement from the University of St. Francis. Renee will bring a strong work ethic, a deep sense of her faith, a passion for teaching and learning, and a strong knowledge in differentiating instruction for students.

Mrs. Katie Homolka will serve as one of the second grade teachers. Mrs. Homolka has served as an instructional aide the past two years for St. Raymond. Mrs. Homolka taught 2nd grade in the Minooka School District for 5 years before she took time off to raise her children. Katie will bring a positive spirit, an attitude that champions every child, and a strong collaborative rapport with our current faculty.

An offer has been made for next year’s Technology/STEM teacher and we are simply waiting for a clear background check.

I am still in the process of hiring a second grade teacher, a music teacher and gym teacher.

There are many new faces coming to St. Raymond next school year, more than usual, but I know we will welcome each of these teachers with great warmth and love. Our teachers make incredible sacrifices and it is so important to shower them with appreciation for the care they provide our children every day.

There are some changes to teaching placements for the 2019-2020 school year:

Mrs. Jacoby will be moving down to teach 3rd grade next year.

Fourth and fifth grade will be a team for the coming year. Mrs. Bialko will be the fourth grade homeroom teacher and Mrs. Black and Mrs. Borio will be the fifth grade homeroom teachers. Mrs. Bialko will teach 4th and 5th grade Math and Science. Mrs. Black with teach 4th and 5th grade Reading and Writing and Mrs. Borio will teach 4th and 5th grade Social Studies and Religion.

Sixth grade will go back to being a part of the junior high team. The teaching assignments are as follows:

Mrs. Molly Shanahan: 6th grade homeroom (6th and 7th grade Social Studies, Reading and Writing)

Mrs. Amy Schwert: 7th grade homeroom (6th-8th grade Science, and 6th and 7th grade Religion)

Mrs. Lynne Shemaitis: 8th grade homeroom (8th grade Social Studies, Reading and Writing)

Mrs. Jeremy Gregory: 8th grade homeroom (6th-8th grade Math and 8th grade Religion)

We look forward to another joy-filled school year! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

In deepest gratitude,

Ms. Marjorie Hill
